There's more than one way to yoga
Did you know that you can create your own body positive yoga workout? It’s true! While the yoga industrial complex tells us that there is a “right” way to practice yoga, you can customize your practice however you wish! It’s your yoga. Make it work for you!
- Feel like practicing traditional sun salutations? Do it! There’s amazing wisdom to glean from practicing the poses that so many others have practiced before you.
- Prefer to change the poses and transitions to suit you body? Perfect! One of the greatest gifts of yoga is learning to follow your own inner wisdom.
- Want to combine vinyasa with strength building exercises you learned from your trainer? Rock on! Mixing movement styles and modalities keeps things interesting from day to day. It also makes you stronger and helps you to use your muscles differently.
Today’s YouTube video combines some of my favourite movement practices: vinyasa yoga, conditioning drills and strength-building exercises. I hope you will take some time to give it a try and experience how these movement styles dovetail together to create a unique practice.
Your yoga is yours
Yoga is for everyone and that includes you. While there are lots of styles of yoga (and most have opinions on “the way” to practice), you can try them all, take what you love from each, combine them together, add in other movement styles and create a truly customized practice that works for you. The key is to unroll your mat and move joyfully!
