Intentional Well-Being Podcast: Personal Freedoms
It’s me and the microphone today, friends.
I want to share with you an interesting thing that happened to me at work a couple weeks ago that has inspired me to get on here today.
Since Masha Amini’s death, on September 16, 2022, I have had the opportunity to speak to a few Muslim women in my community and their view on wearing the hijab and personal freedoms. All feel that women must be able to have a choice. That this is not a religious issue. It is an issue of control and oppression.
This leads to my fear of what is in store for us as a collective. I think back to the overturn of Roe vs Wade. What other freedoms will be taken back? The fact that there are groups of individuals who hold the power to make unilateral decisions in society without walking a moment in our shoes is frightening. I find myself losing sleep over thinking about it. But I keep getting up and I keep fighting for what I believe in.
I urge you to continue to find causes that speak to you and take action on them. There are a million causes out there but you only have so much energy to give. Pick the cause that you can fight for and believe that others are doing the same.
Join me as I highlight FOUR tips on how to maintain your well-being while being an activist and coconspirator in today’s society. It takes a lot of energy to fight for freedom. Make sure you continue to take care of yourself on this journey.
Get comfortable and press play. At the end of this episode, I offer you a guided body scan meditation to give peace of mind and presence in your body.
