A Post-Run Stretch For Your Whole Body
10 minutes makes a difference
With the return of warmer weather, I’ve found myself back on the trails, running more often. It’s wonderful to be outside and move my body in a way that feels joyful to me. But sometimes running leaves me with tight quads, hamstrings, hips and low back muscles. When that happens, I hop on my yoga mat. More often than not, 10-15 minutes of time spent listening to what my body needs makes a huge difference in how I feel.
Today’s practice starts with the movement of vinyasa yoga to stretch my muscles and winds down into the steady, longer holds of Yin yoga to help me release the fascia of my lower body. If you love to run, walk or are feeling the after effects of a long day of gardening, give this practice a try and see how you feel. Ten minutes can make all the difference!
