Small Movements, Big Benefit
Where will the smallest of movements have the biggest impact?
Today’s practice is Pilates-inspired. Pilates is a movement practice that focuses on strengthening your core and its exercises begin with the smallest of movements to engage the core muscles. Those smaller, almost imperceptible actions are the start of something much bigger as we continue to practice. Some of Pilates’ exercises grow in size and movement, of course, but they all begin by getting in touch with and activating the core.
As I write this post, that seems like a good metaphor for life. Our biggest impact in the world is possible by first connecting with our core, who we are and what we believe. Often that process requires introspection, small changes, and activations that, with time, will allow us to take our purpose out into the world. By returning to our core over and over again, the micro-movements become more engrained in who we are and allow us to power much bigger action in our lives.
What small actions can you take today in your life that will give you a powerful foundation to stand on tomorrow? Share with me on social media–I’d love to hear what you thought of this Pilates-inspired practice and how you’re taking it off the mat and into the world.
