So a lot of us bigger sized yoga people love to give certain companies (cough lulu cough) grief for not making bigger sized yoga clothes. In an attempt to focus on the positive, I have found a few brands that do make great yoga pants, shirts and other yoga clothes for the more curvy yoga practitioner.
In today’s video tutorial, I demonstrate some tips to help bigger bodied people get into handstand, including strengthening exercises and how to use props for support.

It was really had to get up this morning. I set my alarm with the intention to get up and practice; it was so hard. It helped knowing that you were all in this with me. It helped me get to my mat. Getting there is 90% of the battle for me. I did 10 minutes of meditation and 10 sun salutes. Success!
I was inspired by a great idea from one of our challengers, adding a minute every day to our practice. My practice today was about gratitude. I did 9 minutes of meditation and 16 minutes of asana.
I decided after my practice this morning I would blog about everyday. I wanted to stay connected to the practice and to you! I thought it would be cool to share our experiences of this challenge together. Like you I struggle everyday with keeping my yoga practice consistent. I want to change that. I want to take better care of me. I am committing to doing 30 days of yoga.

I used to be a power flow yogini. I like my yoga fast and hard. I loved Baron Baptiste Power Yoga with a passion and still do. Going fast and powering through asana made me feel alive and shut down my wandering mind. It wasn’t until I met my first yoga teacher that I learned that slowing down was so much more rewarding.
Who knew that being a big bodied black woman who loves to practice yoga in all its forms would be so big? Yoga is about empowerment, but I never felt empowered by what I saw in the studio around me or in the mainstream media.
